A man charged for jumping the White House fence earlier this year was reportedly the same man shot dead by a sheriff’s deputy Tuesday after attacking an officer at a suburban Pennsylvania courthouse.
District Attorney Tom Hogan identified the man to NBC Philadelphia as Curtis Smith, of Coatesville, Penn., who was arrested by Secret Service in March after scaling the White House’s outer perimeter.
Hogan said Smith, 34, entered the Chester County Justice Center just before noon on Tuesday and charged at a sheriff’s deputy with a knife, slashing him, the station reported. Another deputy fired at Smith, who was rushed to the hospital but later died.
Fox 29 reporter Sabina Kuriakose reported that Curtis entered the courthouse dressed in black, shouting “I’m going to get you” before attacking the officer.
Curtis was reportedly set to face harassment and burglary assault charges at a hearing in October, stemming from a domestic violence arrest.
I guess he was asking for death by cop.
Sad.
Mental health care in this country is a joke.
And THAT’s why everyone should have their own hand gun!
Were that it was.
This happened in my home town. The town he’s from is seriously depressed economically and it’s not a surprise if he wasn’t getting the psychiatric care he seems to have needed.
