CNN host Carol Costello on Monday asked Karen Majewski, the mayor of Hamtramck, Michigan, if she was concerned about the growing population of Muslims in her city.
After discussing New York City’s monitoring of Muslims following the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, Costello noted that Hamtramck is a “majority-Muslim-American city” and asked Majewski, “Are you afraid?”
“No, I’m not afraid,” Majewski.
They mayor then noted that the city may not yet be a majority-Muslim-American city, but that the residents just elected the first majority-Muslim-American city council.
“Whether the demographics of the city would say we’re a Muslim majority city, I don’t think that we’re there yet. I think we’re probably somewhere in the 40 percent Muslim for the city overall. But our city council that will take office in January will be a majority-Muslim council,” Majewski said.
Costello then asked, “So does that concern some of your citizens?”
“You know, the issues, we’re a small city. We’re 23-24,000 people, we’re 2.2 square miles. The issues for most of our residents are, can we fix the streets?” the mayor replied. “They’re local issues. And there’s not a kind of level of fear that we hear when we talk about this on a national level. Really, our city council and our residents are most concerned with the day-to-day issues that affect their life when they walk out their front door.”

Is it a concern of your residents that you are becoming a majority-muslim city? No, because most of the residents are muslim. Yea, democracy!
1933: "The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.
2015: “Run! Duck and Cover! Muslins!”
I guess the Muslims are not residents?
If CNN is going to suspend someone, it should be for idiocy like this.
This is what passes for fucking journalism these days? “Has the wave of bigotry captured you Mayor?”
How about, I don’t know, bringing in some of the residents from this huge Muslim population and asking them how life has been since the terror attacks, have they faced any threats. Maybe use this opportunity to introduce America to what a real Muslim family/community looks like? (hint: just like everybody else)
