Presidential candidate and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie signed the Republican National Committee’s pledge not to run as an independent candidate during a live appearance on Fox’s “America’s Newsroom” Thursday morning.
“I want the nomination of our party, and I will support whoever the nominee is if it’s not me,” Christie told host Martha MacCullum.
The pledge is being circulated among all of the 2016 candidates, but is reportedly aimed at preventing Donald Trump from running a third-party campaign.
Christie seemed exasperated by the pledge, dismissing it as “much ado about nothing.” He told MacCullum he’d already made his intention to support the Republican nominee clear during the first GOP debate.
“You can’t be a sore loser and run as an independent if you don’t get the nomination,” he said.
In comments that seemed directed at Trump, who is meeting with RNC chairman Reince Priebus about the pledge on Thursday afternoon, Christie added, “I don’t need Reince Priebus to come meet with me before deciding whether to do this or not.”
“We’ll put it on the pile,” MacCullum responded, taking the signed pledge from Christie.
Watch below. Christie signed the pledge at the 7:09 mark.
Well, that might be because he doesn’t have anything left to lose. If he doesn’t get the nomination, he’s not going to have the backing for an independent run.
Pitiful. At least he didn’t have to spin a ball on his nose.
What a pathetic display of pandering desperation at its worst

‘I want the nomination but I’ll settle for a pack of Twinkies’
The one with these grammatical and syntactic errors?
Should be a comma before “I will” in the first sentence.
The word “presidential” should be capitalized.
Should be “…regardless of WHOM (or whomever) it is.”
The word “president” should be capitalized in the second sentence.
Should be “…nomination for President BY any other party.”
