Chelsea Clinton is leaving her job as a special correspondent at NBC News ahead of the birth of her first child, she told People magazine Friday.

Clinton said in a statement that she was departing NBC News “to continue focusing on my work at the Clinton Foundation and as Marc and I look forward to welcoming our first child.”

After joining the network in 2011, Clinton reportedly made a $600,000 salary before switching to a month-to-month contract. Her last segment aired in January, according to People.

“Chelsea’s storytelling inspired people across the country and showcased the real power we have as individuals to make a difference in our communities,” said NBC News Senior Vice President Alex Wallace, as quoted by People.
