A brief lockdown at the US Capitol and visitor’s center was lifted Tuesday afternoon and the complex was resuming normal operations, according to multiple outlets.
The second Capitol lockdown in a week, which lasted about 30 minutes, came after police were called around 4 p.m. about a man with a gun at 1st and C street NW, according to local TV station WJLA. That’s near the Department of Labor.
WJLA reported that police placed two people in custody and a machine gun was recovered at the scene. No shots were fired, according to the Associated Press.
