Buckwheat Zydeco, a Louisiana Zydeco musician, on Thursday decried Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal (R) after he used one of Zydeco’s songs at his presidential campaign announcement.
Jindal played Zydeco’s cover of “Hey, Good Lookin’” at his launch on Wednesday, which prompted the musician to tweet his disapproval, according to Gambit Weekly. Zydeco instead indicated that he was a supporter of Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT).
@The_Gambit Using our music is not cool at all #BobbyJindal. @SenSanders using our “Make A Change” to make his announcement is tres bien!

Let us cleanse our palate of #BobbyJindal by remembering the King of Zydeco, Clifton Chenier, on his 90th birthday!

You don’t represent us, #BobbyJindal. Don’t use our music. You’ve been a disaster for Louisiana. http://t.co/TdDjNje8sT

Shannon Dirmann, a spokesperson for Jindal, told Gambit Weekly that the governor had permission to use the song.
“We licensed the music we played. But if Mr. Zydeco wants to be a good socialist like Bernie Sanders, he might need to rethink the idea of private property,” Dirmann said in a statement.
Zydeco did not seem satisfied by Jindal’s statement.
They can buy a song but can’t buy our approval. It’s not worth it. We are not a prop. http://t.co/RMW0gX4Ahv

Just last week, Neil Young told Donald Trump he was not authorized to play “Rockin’ In The Free World,” and also announced that he supports Sanders.

Smart! License a song to start your campaign, then turn right around and attack the musician for being a pinko!
That campaign’s gonna go far!
Yeah, a little too unnecessarily antagonistic for someone that’s trying to drum up support for a new campaign. Not the best sign if you’re despised in your own state, no need to take it out on the citizens.
That sure is one snarky spokesperson. Maybe they should reconsider their career path.

Way to go, Governor Jindal! Show us how to reach out to one of your most famous African-American constituents!
The G.O.P. always keeps it classy. They know their base: people who are mean-spirited and vindictive. They want to punish someone - anyone - for whatever irks them.
