Brain Scientist Arrested For Bringing AR-15 To Airport To Hold Press Conference Monday

The brain scientist arrested last week for reportedly pointing an assault rifle at a woman and her daughter in an Arizona airport will hold a press conference on Monday, according to the Phoenix New Times.

Peter Steinmetz was arrested for disorderly conduct after he brought his AR-15 to Sky Harbor International Airport.

It’s legal to bring a gun into an airport in Arizona, and Steinmetz has yet not been charged, a spokesperson for th Maricopa County Attorney’s Office told the Phoenix New Times.

The Barrow Neurological Institute at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center, where Steinmetz was the program director of neuroengineering, has put him on administrative leave, according to the New Times.

Steinmetz has not yet commented publicly. He will speak on Monday at 3 p.m. at the law office of Marc Victor in Chandler, Ariz.
