A middle school nurse in Jonesboro, Ga. allegedly yelled a racial slur at a black 11-year-old boy, television station WXIA reported on Wednesday.
Tormeka Ezzard, the mother of 11-year-old Jason Ezzard, reportedly wants the school to reopen the original investigation into the incident, which occurred in October.
Tormeka Ezzard told the station the nurse used profanity during the altercation with her son.
“‘I’m gonna eff you up.’ You’re talking to an 11-year-old,” Ezzard said, describing what the nurse allegedly said. “‘I’m gonna knock your effing lights out.’ You’re talking to an 11-year-old!”
Media reports did not say what racial slur was allegedly used, or the race of the nurse.
WXIA reported that six children and three adults provided witness statements alleging that school nurse Beverly Barnes yelled at Ezzard after he and another boy were tossing a bag of chips back and forth.
One of the statements, from principal Sharra Cunningham, alleged that Barnes yelled expletives and used a racial slur before being stopped by a teacher, according to WXIA.
Barnes, a nurse at Mundy’s Mill Middle School, was reportedly suspended for two days after the incident.
However, Ezzard wants the investigation reopened.
“She’s abused my child physically, mentally, and verbally, and won’t nobody help me,” Ezzard told WXIA. “If it would’ve been the other way around, Jason would’ve been locked up, on the spot. I would’ve been going to pick my child up from Clayton County Juvenile Detention Center. What makes her any different from Jason?”
The surveillance video reportedly wasn’t released to the station or Ezzard.

I would’ve been going to pick my child up from Clayton County Juvenile Detention Center. What makes her any different from Jason?”
And that is exactly the point. Good for this Mom to not just let it drop!
Not a copy/paste job from the original story. WXIA spelled “bag” correctly.
All this abuse over a bag of chips being tossed around. Was the other child similarly abused??? If not, why not?
(Better question is “Why?” for this child?)
“What makes her any different from Jason?”
Where to start…
Wait, Georgia still has school nurses?
