Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) told TMZ, in a video posted Wednesday, that he was in “deep trouble” if the 2016 election depended on his dancing skills.

Sanders put his moves on display during an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show last month. (DeGeneres’ guests typically dance their way out to the stage when they appear on the program).

Then — DeGeneres released this week a smashing mashup of Sanders dancing to “Hotline Bling,” a song by popular rap artist Drake whose moves in the music video crazed the Internet.

Here’s DeGeneres’ parody:

The video left America with countless questions for the Democratic hopeful, but luckily, TMZ was in DC to ask Sanders the hard questions about his dancing as he walked near the Capitol.

“Do you think that’s gonna help the generation?” the cameraman asked Sanders. “Or the guys that get along to produce that groove?”

“Well, if this election is dependent on my dancing skills, I think I’m in deep trouble,” Sanders replied.

  1. After Bernie Sanders answered a silly question a reporter asked while they crossed the street, he told the reporter about not-paying-attention-to-traffic, “Be careful, don’t get hurt.”

    Bernie Sanders cares about people.

  2. SO much news and information out there, particularly about Sanders and we get a rehash of something TMZ posted about Bernie’s dancing skills…nice job TPM, way to stay on top of the important stuff.

  3. I like the side of Bernie that I saw in the TMZ clip. It was a good response that pokes fun at himself in a smart way.
