Ben Carson, the 2016 Republican presidential candidate and Tea Party darling, told Republicans on Saturday that they shouldn’t allow the government to encroach on their religious liberties.

Carson’s comments came during the Southern Republican Leadership Conference in Oklahoma City.

“Don’t let the secular progressives drive God out of our lives,” Carson said. “We have to stop letting them bully us. … We back down too easily. It’s an important part of who we are.”

Carson also urged Americans to reinstitute the founders’ original system where the government didn’t control the beliefs of its citizens.

The fact of the matter is that I believe our founders set up a system that wasn’t supposed to cater to a political class,” Carson said. “It was supposed to cater to the people.”

“We’ve gotten everything confused,” Carson continued. “We’ve got to stop making everything into a political issue.”

  1. Not out of your lives, Chicken Little…just back inside your houses and churches where “he” belongs, as opposed to running everything else.

    1. We do not have that kind of power, you silly little man. If “God” somehow leaves your life, perhaps He wanted to do so … or you wanted Him to do so.

    2. Dude, you sure you want to go all the way back then? People with your pigmentation weren’t treated so well then. You knew that, right? Right?

  3. We won’t be driving your god anywhere. You guys are the ones with the keys to the clown car.

  4. If we could drive God out of your life, then He wasn’t really there.

All we’re asking is that you don’t force your version of God and how to worship Him into our lives. What you do on your own in your own life is your business.

  5. Who’s GOD? Your GOD? My GOD? The God of the Jews? The God of Islam? The God(s) of the Hindus? The Great Spirit? The Pagan God(s)? The “OLD ONES”? Cthulhu? The Flying Spaghetti Monster (the ONE True Pasta)?
    Who Decides? YOU?
