The audience at tonight’s Tea Party Express/CNN debate in Tampa, FL will get an up-close look at Mitt Romney’s new national campaign co-chair.
CNN reports Tim Pawlenty — who endorsed Romney this morning — will attend the debate tonight as “as one of Romney’s guests.”
Meanwhile, critics keep pointing out the, er, elephant in the room: Pawlenty’s former life as a strong critic of Romney’s record on health care in Massachusetts. Before Rick Perry’s talk about Social Security was the unelectability soundbite du jour, Romney’s past as a champion of a health insurance mandate in Massachusetts was the subject every other Republican candidate wanted to pile on.
Pawlenty led the pack (except that one time when he very publicly didn’t.) ThinkProgress compiles the Pawlenty Obamneycare era here.
