Vocal outbursts seem to run in the Wilson family. On Tuesday, the wife of Rep. Joe Wilson (R-SC) — of “You lie!” fame — chewed out South Carolina state Sen. Jake Knotts.
The altercation, as WIS-TV reports, was over Knotts’ efforts to kill a bill that would reopen candidate filings for candidates removed from primary ballots. The need to fill the ballots came in the wake of a state Supreme Court decision, the Associated Press reports.
Which brings us to the shouting match. Roxanne Wilson made sure Sen. Knotts heard her displeasure. Knotts rejected the notion that her anger represented the broader public, dismissing her as a “congressman’s wife.”
“I don’t care,” she replied. “You know it’s wrong … you are self-serving,” she yelled.
When a Capitol staffer tried to calm Wilson down, she asked the man to get his hand off of her. “I don’t know who you are, but go away,” she said.
As the video reveals, Wilson and Knotts are friends, and they eventually made peace.
