Good point, bad timing.
Mitt Romney complained in his FOX News interview that some of his alleged “flip flops” are actually based on misleadingly edited quotes.
“And there’s no question, but that people are going to take snippets and take things out of context and try and show that there are differences,” he said.
Certainly that’s been true in some cases. But, as the DNC points out, Romney’s campaign did exactly the same thing to Obama in spectacular fashion last week by running an ad that edited a clip of the president quoting from a McCain strategist to make it appear it was Obama’s own words. Romney’s camp defended the spot vociferously. So, in theory at least, out-of-context quotes are fair game, no?
