America has shown Herman Cain the money.

Speaking to CNN on Thursday, Herman Cain’s chief-of-staff and part-time Marlboro man, Mark Block said that the campaign raised more than $3 million from 65,000 donors since the beginning of October.

“We’ve actually doubled in a little over a month, and that’s what we’re seeing in our grassroots activism growth,” Block said.

The number is an enormous increase in the campaign’s fundraising, totaling more than money raised in the previous three months combined.

The marked jump in fundraising mirrors Cain’s meteoric rise in the polls. Languishing in the single digits as recently as September, Cain now finds himself leading Mitt Romney in most national surveys.

Cain has been criticized recently for not having a presence in early voting states such as Iowa and New Hampshire. It has been suggested that he has been more interested in promoting his book while touring the South.

Block refuted these claims, noting that the campaign has a presence in all 50 states.

“I think when this is all said and done, you will see that we have one of the most strongest, widespread and deep grassroots organizations all across America,” he said.
