It’s a mere formality at this point, but the Senate is about to vote to confirm Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court.  The voting is set to begin shortly. TPM’s Tierney Sneed is at the Capitol.

The final vote is expected to be 50-48, with Sen. Steve Daines (R-MT) missing the vote for his daughter’s wedding, and Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) expected to vote “present” to offset Daines absence, so that the final 2-vote margin is the same it would have been with Daines voting. The 2-vote margin also means no senator voting yes is the “deciding” vote.

Aside from such formal posturing, we’re not expecting any surprises. The die was cast yesterday when Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) came out for Kavanaugh.
