Obama Promotes Women’s Equality
In this weekend’s YouTube address, President Obama marked Women’s History Month, and promoted his administration’s work to achieve equality for women.

“Achieving equality and opportunity for women isn’t just important to me as President,” said Obama. “It’s something I care about deeply as the father of two daughters who wants to see his girls grow up in a world where there are no limits to what they can achieve.”

Murkowski: Some In Washington Want Higher Energy Prices, ‘Don’t Care About The Damage’
In this weekend’s Republican address, Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) called for increased oil exploration in America.

“The worst part of this emerging crisis is that our own government deserves much of the blame. International events have pushed prices higher, but our own short-sightedness and restrictions have also played a critical role,” said Murkowski. “Some in Washington believe higher oil and gas prices, driven even higher by proposed new taxes, are needed to make Americans behave the way they think they should. Higher energy prices are their explicit goal. They don’t realize or don’t care about the damage to the economy, the pain to a mom as she fills her minivan, or a farmer as he tries to bring in a harvest.”

Huge Crowds Expected At Pro-Union Rally In Madison
The Associated Press reports: “Wisconsin Democratic and union leaders are expecting a huge crowd at a rally in the capital against a new Republican-sponsored law that drastically weakens the state’s public employee unions…The 14 Democratic senators who fled the state to slow action on the bill are expected to attend Saturday’s rally.”

Democrats See Wisconsin Loss As Galvanizing
The New York Times reports: “In a push to raise money for their candidates, Democrats hope Wisconsin will be for them what the health care overhaul was for Republicans in last year’s midterm elections: a galvanizing force for their base, and an example of overreaching that will win them crucial independent voters, not just in Wisconsin but also in Congressional races and the presidential election next year.”

RNC Chairman Thinks Wisconsin Fight Boosts GOP
Roll Call reports: “Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus said the battle in Wisconsin between Republican Gov. Scott Walker and public employee unions will lead to a bigger national debate over fiscal responsibility in government and help the GOP in 2012. ‘I’m proud of what Scott Walker did in Wisconsin,’ Priebus said in an interview with Roll Call on Friday from his office in RNC headquarters. ‘I think that he is leading not only the state of Wisconsin, but he is leading this country, and we are going to have a debate as to whether we have a country with more people riding the wagon than driving the wagon.'”

Conservatives Want Anti-Abortion Rights Language In Next Funding Extension
The Hill reports: “Social conservatives are warning House GOP leaders they could oppose a measure to fund the government for three weeks that does not include anti-abortion rights language. Republicans released a measure Friday afternoon that would fund the government for three weeks and cut $6 billion in spending the rest of this year. It did not include anti-abortion rights measures to defund Planned Parenthood, which are favored by social conservatives and were included in a measure already approved by the House that wound fund the government for the rest of the fiscal year.”
