A new PPP poll of registered voters in Connecticut shows Democrats with big leads in hypothetical match-ups for the seat being vacated by Sen. Joe Lieberman (CT-I).

In the poll, two potential Democratic candidates, Secretary of State Susan Bysiewicz and Rep. Chris Murphy (D-CT), comfortably led a number of potential GOP challengers, posting double-digit leads in every potential match-up included in the survey.

Bysiewicz led Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton 44%-34%, and topped failed gubernatorial candidate Michael Fedele 45%-35%. She also led State Senator Scott Frantz 45%-30%, and topped last year’s GOP Senate nominee Linda McMahon by 50%-39%.

Murphy posted larger leads against each Republican, besting Boughton 52%-29%, Fedele 51%-29%, Frantz 51%-27% and McMahon 54%-38%.

Lieberman announced earlier this year that he would not seek reelection. In a recent PPP poll, nearly six in ten voters said they disapproved of his job performance.

The PPP poll was conducted March 17-20 among 802 registered voters. It has a margin of error of 3.4%.
