On May 25, MSNBC’s Ed Schultz left cable after he called conservative radio host Laura Ingraham a “right wing slut.” Tonight, MSNBC says, Schultz makes his “triumphant return to television.”

Schultz offered viewers a long apology for his comments about Ingraham, which came not on his primetime show but his daily talk radio program.

When they suspended him, MSNBC called his remark “unacceptable.” As he prepares to reclaim his 10 PM timeslot, the network is hailing the apology as exemplary, saying it’s “what some called the most heartfelt and emotional apology that a cable news host has ever given.”

The network notes that tonight’s broadcast “will be the first time Ed has spoken publicly on television since his apology given on his show.”
