Fox News is up in arms over the USDA’s latest school lunch guidelines, which emphasize fruits and vegetables and limit the meal’s calorie count. A group of Kansas high school students — led by an English teacher — made a parody video of the pop song “We Are Young,” turning it into “We Are Hungry,” and Fox ran with the story story.
Jon Stewart summed up the network’s argument Thursday: “Just because Uncle Sam’s buying me lunch, doesn’t mean he can tell me what to eat.” But how do Fox hosts feel about food stamps, again? If tax dollars are paying for the food, it should be spent at Costco, not McDonalds, Fox host Eric Bolling argues.
“If Uncle Sam is paying for the meal, Uncle Sam gets to tell you where to eat,” Stewart said, summing up the same network’s argument.
“How divided are we as a nation?” he added. “Well, we have two types of diabetes in this country and if Obama is against them, then, well, America’s No. 1 news network is for one of them.”
