Jon Stewart on Monday continued to savage CNN in the wake of the network’s erroneous reporting on the Boston Marathon bombing investigation.
Last week, CNN reported that an arrest had been made in the case, an apparent scoop that soon proved to be premature. Other news outlets, including the Associated Press and Boston Globe, filed similar reports. After that, CNN transitioned to reporting that it had no idea what was going on, Stewart said.
“It’s a much more responsible way of broadcasting than your usual ‘say it first and have Anderson Cooper correct it later,'” Stewart said.
And while most networks kept an news anchor back in the studio to lead the coverage, “CNN went with more of your sandlot football, ‘everyone go long!'” approach, Stewart said.
