Democrat Jerry Brown has an amazing new ad in the California gubernatorial race, touting the praise of his great record in public service from none other than…his Republican opponent Meg Whitman!

The ad shows footage of Whitman, delivering one of her standard stump lines about the time when she first moved to California, and how concerned she is with the state’s current broken condition: “You know, 30 years ago anything was possible in this state.”

The screen then cuts to black, with on-screen text: “Who was Governor 30 years ago? Jerry Brown.”

Then the announcer comes in, with video laying out Brown’s record when he was governor from 1975-1983: “As governor, he cut waste, got rid of the mansion and the limo. Budgets were balanced. $4 billion in tax cuts. World-class schools and universities. Clean energy promoted. 1.9 million new jobs created. California was working.”

Back to the Whitman video: “I mean, it’s why I came to California so many years ago.”

And the announcer: “Jerry Brown — the knowledge and knowhow to get California working again.”

The TPM Poll Average gives Brown a lead of 47.9%-41.6%.
