It’s not that they’re in prison indefinitely. It’s not that they’ve maybe been waterboarded. It’s definitely not that they can’t see their families. No, the biggest problem facing Guantanamo Bay detainees, according to Sen. Jim Inhofe, is that they’re getting fat.Sen. Inhofe (R-OK) was on Fox & Friends Friday morning, and host Brian Kilmeade asked him whether he thinks the U.S. should allow detainees to get visits from their families, a program that the International Committee of the Red Cross has been pushing the Pentagon to implement.
“No, no we shouldn’t Brian,” Inhofe said. “Let’s keep in mind, these detainees, they have things they’ve never had before. You know what the biggest problem in Gitmo is right now? It’s obesity. They’re eating better than they’ve ever eaten before, they have better medical care, they have legal counsel. You gotta draw the line somewhere, let’s draw it here.”
