  • The Wall Street Journal: "this deal is superior to anything we could have imagined six months ago. Much credit goes to Mitch McConnell and Senate Republicans for holding together against the class war attacks of Chuck Schumer and other Democrats."
  • National Review: "the deal is still worth taking: If it won't do much good for the economy, it will avert a serious blow to it. It is possible that Republicans could have gotten an even better deal next year...[b]ut that would have left them having to cut taxes retroactively and left households paying first higher and then lower taxes."

There's a schism for sure. The Club for Growth and DeMint aren't chumps. But there is significant support on the right for this plan.
