Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) praised Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) for bringing up a bill to lift the debt limit without policy add-ons.

“I commend Speaker Boehner for doing the right thing,” he said Wednesday. “I am pleased that he has come to the realization that the full faith and credit of the United States is not a hostage to be held for political gain.”

“It is encouraging that some of my Republicans colleagues seem to be regaining their grip on sanity this week,” he said.

Reid attacked Senate Republicans, including Sen. Ted Cruz (TX), for threatening to filibuster the House-passed debt ceiling hike.

“Unfortunately, Republicans on this side of the Capitol are forcing us to jump through procedural hoops to alleviate the threat of default,” he said.
