Colorado Democrat Andrew Romanoff is selling the farm in his quest to beat Sen. Michael Bennet (D-CO) in the August 10 Senate primary. Seriously, the guy just sold his house and loaned his campaign $325,000.
Romanoff is battling an incumbent with a big cash advantage, but as The Denver Post reports, Romanoff is trying to cast the big sale in a flattering light.
“I’m never home anyway,” Romanoff told the Post. “Plenty of Americans are taking a lot bigger hit than me. I spend a lot of hours asking other people to do the same.”
Romanoff reported having $464,340 in cash on hand on June 30, compared to Bennet’s $2.58 million. Romanoff’s campaign told the Post that it is having it’s best fundraising month yet in July.
According to the Post, Romanoff said he bought the house for $190,000 in 1996, and sold it for $360,000.
