In a new fundraising e-mail, Democratic candidate Creigh Deeds acknowledges that he’s now widely seen as the underdog in the Virginia gubernatorial race:

Four months ago, we beat the odds and won the primary against better funded opponents. And just three weeks from now, we’re going to win again. Because despite all the chatter, you and I know the only poll that matters is the one on Election Day.
But we have a tough fight. The Washington Post says that Bob McDonnell is outspending us “nearly 2 to 1 on TV ads” — and I need your help to fight back.
We cannot allow our opponent’s advertising to drown out our aspirations to bring opportunity, prosperity, and hope to every corner of our Commonwealth.
When I was a little boy growing up in Bath County, my Great Uncle Frank had a summer camp.
On the first day of camp every year, Uncle Frank would say to his campers “Boys, you’re going to get out of this camp exactly what you put into it.”
At the time, I didn’t know what that old man was saying. But the older I’ve gotten, the more I realize, that’s the lesson of life: You’re either all in, or you’re not in at all.
I’m all in for everything I do. And if I have the extraordinary opportunity to be the 71st governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, I will be all in, everyday, working with you and for you.
