Stephen Colbert appeared on Good Morning America today, and told host George Stephanopoulos that he’s testifying before a House Judiciary Subcommittee tomorrow to “get that C-SPAN1 bump for my ratings.”

As we reported, Colbert is testifying on behalf of the United Farm Workers’ “Take Our Jobs” campaign, which encourages “U.S. citizens and legal residents to replace hundreds of thousands of immigrant field laborers, most of whom are undocumented.”

In August, Colbert spent a day working in the fields as a part of the program. “I went out there and I worked 10 hours in the fields. And I had to stop cause my doctors told me I had developed a condition known as a blister,” he said.

Colbert also talked about his planned “Keep Fear Alive” rally on October 30, at the same time as Jon Stewart’s own “Rally For Sanity.”

“I am going to rock his world on October 30,” he said of Stewart, continuing: “I don’t understand what it means to come together, to bring the moderates together, to have their voice heard. If they wanted their voice heard they should be shouting. They shouldn’t be moderate. How can you be extremely moderate? That is like wearing an extra medium.”

When asked whether he thought the rallies might actually help Democrats in the November elections, Colbert scoffed: “I think it is going to take more than a march to help the Democrats in November. I think it might need, I don’t know, leadership? Maybe a few more ideas?”

On Christine O’Donnell, he said: “I think the latest clip is she said she rules the night and feasts on human flesh.”
