Dems Finally Have A Chance For Revenge On SCOTUS, But Will They Take It?

The Gist: Now that President Trump has named Neil Gorsuch, to be his nominee for the Supreme Court, Democrats are in the midst of making one of their toughest choice to date in the Trump era: will they use the filibuster to deny Trump what Republicans denied Obama last year?

Report: White House Will No Longer Send Aides On Air At CNN

The Gist: The White House has stopped sending officials to appear on CNN, a network that President Donald Trump has repeatedly bashed as “fake news,” Politico reported Tuesday evening.

After Spicer Opposed Term ‘Travel Ban,’ Trump Says He Doesn’t Care

The Gist: White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer on Tuesday afternoon painstakingly insisted that President Donald Trump’s order barring immigrants from seven predominantly Muslim countries was not a “travel ban.”

Official FBI guidelines acknowledge that white supremacists and right-wing extremists have infiltrated U.S. law enforcement agencies, according to a classified 2015 counterterrorism policy guide obtained by The Intercept, TPM’s Allegra Kirkland wrote. “Domestic terrorism investigations focused on militia extremists, white supremacist extremists, and sovereign citizen extremists often have identified active links to law enforcement officers,” the guide, which explains how individuals qualify for inclusion on a terrorism watchlist, reads, according to The Intercept.

Agree or Disagree?

Josh Marshall: “By every standard, Trump is courting even greater unpopularity and sowing the seeds of an electoral backlash in two years. And yet, history shouldn’t have allowed us to get here in the first place. By most conventional wisdom it should have been extremely difficult for Donald Trump to be elected President. And yet he was. So today people on both sides of the ideological divide – half emboldened, the other half demoralized – think that political gravity simply doesn’t apply anymore. Is this right?”

Say What?!

“Since Obamacare and these issues have come up, the women are in my grill no matter where I go.”

– Rep. David Brat (R-VA) told a meeting of conservative groups over the weekend that he has been hounded by female constituents opposed to the repeal of the Affordable Care Act.

BUZZING: Today in the Hive

From a TPM Prime member: “I honestly think this is the sort of thing we need to consider seriously–building bridges, offering compromises to people who would normally (and in a lot of circumstances still are) the opposition. For instance, I have little in common with Libertarians but the Rule of Law as opposed to the Rule of Deranged Men might be a entree. Christians, the real ones and opposed to the phony-balonies,, believe in fairness, acceptance. This immigration ban is flatly immoral and unAmerican, not to mention unChristian. Plus, we’re called upon to be stewards of the Earth, not greedy, rapacious pigs. The idea of opening mining rights in the Grand Canyon, for instance, is horrifying. Once you stand on that rim, you know damn well the ground is sacred. Christians know it and even an agnostic like myself sensed the holiness of place. If you remember at the start of the Keystone pushback, both Tea Party and conservationists were on the front lines. The TP people are strong property rights believers, hate the idea of Eminent Domain, particularly from an arrogant corporation. The environmentalists have serious concerns about water preservation and the natural surround. So, the concerns are different but the aim is the same–stop a tar sands pipeline that people oppose, regardless of the reason. “
