TPM’s Sara Jerde recapped a conversation New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) had with CNN in which the presidential candidate said he preferred Bruce Springsteen’s music over Jon Bon Jovi’s, despite comments he made last month. Christie said he is friends with Bon Jovi, even though the New Jersey rockstar reportedly hosted a fundraising event for Democrat hopeful Hillary Clinton earlier this summer.

David Shorr believes critics of the Iran deal are judging the agreement by unreasonable unicorn-like standards and the fantasy of walking Iran back to the tiny program it had ten years ago.

From a TPM Prime member: "Our preference, however, is not really an issue. An individual can express a preference by buying an alternative fuel vehicle, electric vehicle, or hybrid, but no individual consumer's decision is going to have an impact on the choices of vehicle manufacturers or energy companies, and consumers aren't sufficiently organized to impose any meaningful collective pressure. If it weren't for federal regulation, motor vehicles would be a lot less efficient than they presently are. Certainly, there is a preference by both individuals and businesses to select the more cost-effective option, particularly when choosing between options that seem otherwise roughly equivalent. Education can affect that choice, but absent something that compels change — e.g., government-imposed CAFE standards — enough people and businesses will choose the cheaper option such that the impact of those who choose a cleaner or greener alternative is diluted or lost."
