Former Pennsylvania Rick Santorum has climbed to second in the nightly Gallup tracking poll of the Republican presidential primary nationwide, and third in a new CBS national poll. The upward mobility comes after Santorum nearly won the Iowa caucuses, losing to former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney by eight votes. Romney continues to lead nationally after the fall of Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, who was at the top through most of December.

The TPM Poll Average of the national GOP Race shows Romney with 24.7 percent, Santorum in second with 18, and Gingrich in third with 14.7.
