Wednesday, Reuters reported that President Obama’s re-election campaign was considering holding the last night of the Democratic National Convention at Bank of America stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina, instead of Time Warner Cable Arena where the first two days’ events will take place. One reason raised is that they could raise more money from selling “more floor passes close to the stage” at the Bank of America stadium. But, they report, the administration worried about being associated with the name of the maligned financial institution. Democratic National Convention Committee spokesperson pushed back against the report, telling TPM: “We’re holding the convention at the Time Warner Cable Arena. Decisions about convention planning are driven by engaging more people in the process, not by money.”
