Alaska Pollster: Palin Popularity Takes a Dive

Some new data from Alaska pollster Ivan Moore Research shows former Governor Sarah Palin falling hard in the minds of state residents: she is now only viewed favorably by 29 percent of those polled, versus 61 percent who see her negatively. It’s been a double digit drop for Palin over seven surveys that Moore has conducted in a year and half, who made this point in a release:

“The fielding dates were, of course, prior to Palin’s announcement that she would not be jumping into the presidential race residential race. The results are particularly noteworthy because all seven surveys were done with precisely the same methodology, combining interviews with respondents on landlines and cellphones, a prerequisite for research in Alaska where over a third of adults are cell-only….

The numbers through June of this year had been been extremely stable. They suggested strongly that Palin had a 40% base in Alaska that was pretty solid, that no matter what happened, 40% of Alaskans remained positive to her. This is no longer the case.”
