President Barack Obama on Wednesday invited Ahmed Mohamed to the White House.

Mohamed is the 14-year-old Texas teenager who was arrested Monday for bringing a homemade clock to his suburban Dallas high school that police thought was a “movie bomb.”

White House Press Secretary John Earnest announced that Mohamed was also invited to Astronomy Night at the White House on Oct. 19. The regular event allows students to meet with government scientists and NASA astronauts.

According to Earnest, Obama’s invitation was “rooted in the desire to reach out to a 14-year-old boy who, at least what we know from law enforcement, was wrongly handcuffed in his own school yesterday just for bringing in a clock.”

No charges will be filed against Mohamed, according to the Irving Police Chief Larry Boyd.
