As Vice President Joe Biden greeted new and returning senators on Thursday on Capitol Hill, he was all smiles. “There’s a lot to smile about today,” he said as he caressed the face of one of the attendees.

Throughout the ceremony, Biden took center stage, greeting senators, children, babies and mothers with hugs, kisses, pats on the back and fist bumps.

“Spread your legs, you’re gonna be frisked,” he said to the family of Sen. Heidi Heitkamp (D-ND). He later made this offer to relatives of Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC): “If you need any help with your pecs, let me know.”
