Jon Stewart on Tuesday again turned his attention to the ATF’s botched Operation Fast and Furious. The House on Thursday is expected to vote on a resolution holding Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress. And President Obama last week asserted executive privilege over documents related to the program.
No surprise, Republicans and pundits on the right are outraged over the whole thing, concluding that the failed gun-walking program makes Watergate look like child’s play.
Just one problem: it’s not the first time Republicans have gone there. “They throw around the term Watergate so much at fox, you’d think the guy running Fox had been a Nixon operative … oh my god!” Stewart said. “It’s Watergate-gate-gate-gate-gate.”
