YouTube will introduce paid subscriptions for select channel owners as soon as the second quarter of this year, according to a report from AdAge on Tuesday. Subscriptions will reportedly cost users between $1 and $5 per month, but YouTube is also “considering charging for content libraries and access to live events, a la pay-per-view, as well as self-help or financial advice shows,” according to knowledgeable sources cited by AdAge. A spokesperson for YouTube’s parent company Google told AdAge “There are a lot of our content creators that think they would benefit from subscriptions, so we’re looking at that.”
