Newt Gingrich is framing South Carolina as the last chance for real conservatives to stop moderate Mitt Romney from clinching the nomination. It’s a risky narrative, but it’s probably so true that Newt might has well say it.
Closing a townhall in Rock Hill, South Carolina Wednesday morning, Newt told the audience that South Carolinians are either going to pick one conservative, or send a moderate on to the nomination. A moderate who, because of his moderate positions, isn’t sure what he believe, isn’t sure what his record is, and isn’t sure how to articulate it.
