The news that allied forces may arm the Libyan rebels did not sit well with Jon Stewart Thursday night.
Responding to that report, Stewart harkened back to Afghanistan in the 1980s when the U.S. armed the Afghan mujahideen, a group believed to have included Osama bin Laden.
“That would be a great where are they now segment,” Stewart said. “Seriously, we need to know where they are. Now.”
Stewart was also concerned with the news that the Libyan rebels have little to no military training, and are inept with the weapons they already have — including one report that rebels actually fired a rocket backwards.
“When we arm them, we’re just going to make sure we give them the instructions to the weapons,” Stewart said.
