A hotel in Virginia defended itself Tuesday after Donald Trump threatened not to pay his bill after he claimed the ballroom his event was held in earlier in the day was too hot, CNN reported.

Michael Quonce, a spokesman for the hotel, said in a statement that the Hotel Roanoke and Conference Center is “committed to providing exceptional service and accommodation for all guests and members of the community.”

“The hotel’s HVAC system was on and working properly through the event,” he said in the statement. “We made every effort to create a comfortable environment for all of our guests given soaring temperatures and a ballroom filled with hundreds of attendees.”

The Trump campaign didn’t immediately return CNN’s request for comment. Trump had said at a campaign event on Monday at the hotel that it wasn’t supposed “to be so hot that everybody in the audience is using a fan.”

“You ought to try turning on the air conditioning or we are not going to get you paid,” Trump reportedly said. “I pay my bills so fast with somebody good. With somebody average, I pay them OK. With somebody great, a lot of times I give them bonuses … This is ridiculous.”

A USA Today investigation found that Trump failed to pay numerous former contractors and employees associated with his businesses thousands of dollars over many years.
