Senate Republicans are attacking Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-LA) for Democrats’ all-night talk-a-thon on climate change — which she did not participate in.
In a new ad the National Republican Senatorial Committee attacks Landrieu for skipping the talk-a-thon. CNN said the ad hits her for “allowing” the event to take place despite her role as chair of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee.
“Mary Landrieu always brags about being a committee chairman,” the voiceover in the ad, which features a black screen with a pinwheel the entire time, said. “We all know she talks a good game. The problem is, Mary Landrieu never brings results.”
The ad is about 30 seconds long.
Landrieu is one of Senate Republicans’ top targets in the 2014 election cycle. Rep. Bill Cassidy and tea party favorite Rob Maness are both running in the GOP primary to unseat the incumbent Democrat.
CNN, which first reported the new ad on Tuesday, noted that Landrieu wasn’t the only Democrat missing from the talk-a-thon: Sens. Kay Hagan (D-NC), Mark Begich (D-AK), and Mark Pryor (D-AR), all facing tough re-election battles, were missing as well.
CNN did not get a reply when it reached out for comment on why Landireu was missing from the event.
