A new one-minute radio ad by Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-LA) claims Republicans will impeach President Barack Obama if she loses her tough runoff election this Saturday.

The spot, first reported by Andrew Kaczynski of BuzzFeed, features New Orleans-area Rep. Cedric Richmond (D-LA) issuing the warning.

“This is Congressman Cedric Richmond,” he says. “Have you heard the crazy stuff Bill Cassidy, Bobby Jindal and the Republicans are always saying about President Obama? They have shown our president so much disrespect. They said he wasn’t a U.S. citizen, they even sued him. And if Cassidy wins, they will impeach him.”

At the top of the ad, Landrieu says, “I’m Mary Landrieu, candidate for Senate, and I approve this message.”

  1. As stupid as they are, I don’t think they’re that stupid.

Oh wait, what am I thinking?

  2. It’s one thing the person in the ad says and first he talks about various things her challenger and others want to do – I think it is best seen in that context – people like him support that. Clearly, his election won’t really factor in the decision much – the House impeaches and there still is no where close to convict. One more vote won’t do much there.

  3. For many Louisiannans, this will be a reason for vote FOR Landrieu’s opponent. What was she thinking?

  4. It’s not as if Landrieu was helpful to Obama.

  5. It’s almost as if she wants to lose! (Maybe she’s looking to cash in on K-Street now?) At least we’ll be rid of another Blue Dog. Good riddance…
