Carly Fiorina, the former CEO of Hewlett-Packard who’s running for U.S. Senate from California, denied any knowledge of alleged bribes her company paid for contracts in Russia, according to the Sacramento Bee.
“Carly has no knowledge of these alleged actions,” said spokeswoman Amy Thoma. “When she served as the CEO of HP if she had been aware of any illegal or inappropriate behavior by any employee she would have taken action immediately to terminate the parties involved.”
Authorities from the U.S., Germany and Russia are investigating the company for allegedly paying millions of dollars to Russian officials for contracts in Russia, according to the Wall Street Journal. The Justice Department and Securities and Exchange Commission are looking into whether H-P violated the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, which prohibits American companies from bribing foreign officials.
