New York Times columnist David Brooks on Sunday criticized President Obama's foreign policy in the Middle East and toward Russia.

"Let's face it, Obama, whether deservedly or not, does have a (I'll say it crudely) but a manhood problem in the Middle East: Is he tough enough to stand up to somebody like Assad, somebody like Putin?" Glenn Greenwald, who won a Pulitzer for his reporting on National Security Agency surveillance practices, responded Rep. Peter King (R-NY), who said the Pulitzer committee's decision to give Greenwald the Public Service award a "disgrace."

Former Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens on Sunday said he thinks that it's appropriate for justices to consider politics when weighing their decision to retire.

"It's an appropriate thing to think about your successor, not only in this job," Stevens said on ABC's "This Week." "I'm just finishing the book by former Secretary [of Defense Robert] Gates. He thought a lot about his successor, too. If you're interested in the job and in the kind of work that's done, you have to have an interest in who’s going to fill your shoes."

Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia last week told students that they should protest taxes in the U.S. if they become too high, according to CBS News.

During a Tuesday speech at the University of Tennessee College of Law, Scalia said that the government has a right to impose the income tax, “but if it reaches a certain point, perhaps you should revolt.”

Astronomers announced Thursday that they have discovered a planet most similar to earth orbiting a star 500 lightyears away, according to the New York Times.

The planet, Kepler 186f, is larger and colder than earth, but its temperatures lie within the zone that could allow for liquid and therefore life. Scientists can only speculate about this, however, because the star is so far away.
