CNN "State of the Union" host Candy Crowley on Sunday sat down with the chairs of the House and Senate Veterans Affairs oversight committees to quiz them on their role in letting Veterans Affairs backlogs go unnoticed.

In the wake of the University of California Santa Barbara shooting that left seven dead, Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) on Sunday called on Congress to revive the failed gun control package introduced following the Sandy Hook shooting.

“That gut-wrenching, heartbreaking statement is a reminder of how we felt in the wake of Sandy Hook on Dec. 14, a year and a half ago when it seemed like we were on the verge of potentially legislation that would stop the madness and end the insanity that has killed too many young people, thousands — tens of thousands — since Sandy Hook," Blumenthal said on CBS' "Face the Nation," referencing the statement one of the victim's fathers gave following the California shooting.

Dr. Ben Carson, retired neurosurgeon and Fox News contributor, on Saturday openly admitted that he's pretty happy about the Veterans Affairs scandal.

"I think what’s happening with the veterans is a gift from God to show us what happens when you take layers and layers of bureaucracy and place them between the patients and the health care provider," Carson said on Fox News, using the veterans hospital backlogs to criticize Obamacare. “And if we can’t get it right, with the relatively small number of veterans, how in the world are you going to do it with the entire population?”

Texas gubernatorial candidate and state Sen. Wendy Davis (D) arrived in Los Angeles on Thursday morning for a fundraiser to spot multiple posters portraying her as an "abortion barbie," the Huffington Post reported.

The signs, titled "Hollywood welcomes Abortion Barbie Wendy Davis," depict the candidate as a Barbie with a plastic "fetus" in her abdomen. In the poster she is holding another plastic "fetus" below a pair of giant scissors.

Rep. James Clyburn (D-SC) on Wednesday suggested that House Republicans are using the Benghazi select committee to target President Obama due to his race.
