Allegra Kirkland reported today that a group of former DOJ officials have submitted an amicus brief in the case filed by the Justice Department aiming to block the AT&T-Time Warner merger. The former officials, including John Dean and Preet Bharara, express concern that President Trump may have prodded DoJ to block the merger in order to punish CNN for its coverage of him. That would be a(nother) troubling example of Trump politicizing the U.S. justice system.

But one of the officials whose name is on the brief will be familiar to long-time TPM readers: John McKay.
