This week is not the first time President Trump has floated his former deputy national security adviser Dina Powell as a potential candidate for a position he wanted filled, Politico reported.

Powell has remained in Trump’s inner circle since she left the administration to spend more time with her family and Trump has raised her name multiple times for positions he wanted to fill or people he wanted to replace. At one point while she was still in the administration, Trump wanted to replace his former Chief of Staff Reince Priebus, with Powell, according to Politico. Back when Trump was mulling what to do about his former Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, he considered replacing Tillerson with Nikki Haley, and plugging Powell in at the United Nations.

“Her name is always out there,” a White House official told Politico.

White Trump told reporters on Wednesday that the White House was looking at several candidates to replace Haley when she leaves in January, Powell is the lead contender, three current and former White House officials told Politico.
