Gowdy Officially Requests Information, Briefing On Ivanka’s Emails

Deputy Assistant FBI Director Peter Strzok testifies before a joint committee hearing of the House Judiciary and Oversight and Government Reform committees in the Rayburn House Office Building on Capitol Hill July 12, 2018 in Washington, DC. While involved in the probe into Hillary ClintonÕs use of a private email server in 2016, Strzok exchanged text messages with FBI attorney Lisa Page that were critical of Trump. After learning about the messages, Mueller removed Strzok from his investigation into whether the Trump campaign colluded with Russia to win the 2016 presidential election.

Oversight and Government Reform chairman Trey Gowdy (R-SC) wrote a letter to chief of staff John Kelly Tuesday requesting a briefing on Ivanka Trump’s private email account usage, including identification of any emails containing classified information.

“Ms. Trump’s use of a personal email account for official communications may implicate the Presidential Records Act and other security and recordkeeping requirements,” he wrote.

He set the deadline for the requested information as December 5.

Gowdy was one of Republicans’ primary attack dogs when it was Hillary Clinton’s improper use of a private email account that was dominating headlines, gaining attention for his Lindsey Graham-esque performances at hearings with DOJ officials.
