White House counselor Kellyanne Conway curtly dodged questions about potential investigations Democrats could launch now that they won control of the House.
During an interview with CNN on Wednesday morning, Conway snarked “Respectfully, is this really what we’re talking about today?” when CNN’s Alisyn Camerota asked if Trump would hand over his tax returns.
“After we had historic gains in the Senate and some governorships?”
“Well, yeah,” Camarota shot back. “Because there will now be oversight that hasn’t existed for the past two years. So there will be more oversight, as you know Democrats have long wanted there to be more oversight of this White House.”
Kellyanne then suggested that Democrats who ask for investigations get voted out of Congress, pointing to the incumbents who voted against Justice Brett Kavanaugh, like Sen. Heidi Heitkamp (D-ND).
“(Trump) said ‘the Democrats will do what they’re going to do and I’m going to do what I’ve always done, which is find a way to deal with it,'” Conway said. “If they want to bring Washington to a grinding halt, then they don’t understand President Trump.”

Trump took a similar tone on Wednesday morning, even threatening Senate retaliation.
