The White House issued a directive Friday proclaiming that all congressional delegations must get approval from acting White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney before traveling on government aircraft or using travel funds during the shutdown.

The letter was addressed to all executive branch agencies.

When President Donald Trump’s aides were cooking up the plan to ground House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-CA) flight as retribution for her State of the Union letter, they reportedly acknowledged that they may get backlash from Republican members of congress vexed about their own trips being curtailed.
