WASHINGTON, DC - SEPTEMBER 17: Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) answers questions from reporters on allegations against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh on Capitol Hill September 17, 2018 in Washington, DC. Collins said it is important to get both sides of the story in the allegations, but indicated if Kavanaugh is found to have been untruthful it would be grounds for disqualifying his nomination. Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) said Wednesday that she had “little interest in what she has to say,” when asked about former Obama administration National Security Adviser Susan Rice floating a Democratic candidacy for Senate in Maine.

“I really have little interest in what she has to say,” Collins told CNN Wednesday, asked about Rice. “She’s not a legal resident of the state of Maine.” Collins added: “She’d have to move to the state to become a legal resident.”

Rice responded “Me” when former Obama administration official Jen Psaki asked on Twitter Friday: “who wants to run for Senate in Maine?” The question came after Collins said she would vote to confirm Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh. (Rice later noted she was “not making any announcements.”)

On CNN Sunday, Collins granted that Rice’s “family has a home in Maine,” but asserted that Rice doesn’t live there.

Rice said at The New Yorker Festival Sunday: “For the last twenty-so years, I’ve been a homeowner in the state of Maine. So it’s not completely crazy. But, you know, we have to see.”
